Lesson Number: 36

Small Mim

In the Holy Quran, small ' 'Mim' is sometime found printed on top of letter Nun, bearing Jazm when it’s following letter is ba'. In this case 'Mim' is pronounced instead of Nun.

Example: — is read 'Yambuan' (not Yambuan). Mim is also found written over the sign of Tanveen, when the following letter is 'ba'. In this case too. The 'Mim' is pronounced instead of 'Nun' sound of the Tanveen.

Example: - is read 'Nafsin-bima' (not Nafsinbisna).
