My choice:- Buried in Makkah or Madinah | What's your
If you had a choice to be buried anywhere in the world - where would it be? Next to your father? Your mother? Your best friend? Makkah? Madinah? In al-Aqsa? You want to know about love?
When Sayyidah Maymunah was about to leave this world, she instructed that she be buried in Saraf, the place that she spent her first night of marriage with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Even in her final moments, all she could think about was those first moments when she gazed upon the most beautiful of mankind ﷺ. He was more precious to her than the air that she breathed and the life that she lived. When she was given glad tidings that she was going to get married to Rasūlullāh ﷺ, she was sitting on a camel and she was so overcome with joy with the news that she said, 'This camel and everything loaded on top of it is sadaqah in the way of Allāh.'
Sayyida said, 'Rasūlullāh ﷺ used to rest his head on my lap and recite Quran whilst I was menstruating.' She also mentioned that he would always demonstrate great levels of affection and kindness to her. Another time, he ﷺ prayed right next to her wearing a wool cloak - part of it was over him and a part of it was over her. In Sahih Muslim, it mentions that Rasūlullāh ﷺ would bathe from the water which was left over by our mother. Who was this? Sayyiduna Muhammad ﷺ, the most powerful man Allāh ever created.
This ummah has lost the meaning of marriage. It has lost the meaning of sacrifice. It has lost the meaning of loyalty. We don't know how to treat our spouses with affection anymore. We don't know how to show them how much we care anymore. If we want successful marriages and lives, we must return to the way of the beautiful one ﷺ. The people of the dunya gaze at TV screens and wish their marriages were like that on the Big Screen. We gaze at Rasul'Allah ﷺ and only wish our marriages can be like hisﷺ.
