Part 1 – How Few Muslims Adopted the European Confused View of Isra & Meraj

To ensure the article is short enough & readable by all, we divided it into different parts. The first is being presented to you with a sub-heading as stated above.

How Few Muslims Adopted the European Confused View of Isra & Meraj_

However, before you read this account, the following is just for your information. The word Isra is used to refer to the night journey of Prophet Muhammed ï·º from Makkah Mukarramah to Al-Quds in Palestine, whereas the word Meraj is used to denote the beloved’s ï·º ascension to the heavens from Al-Quds.

Coming to the core now, few elements, non-Muslims & a few Muslims too, focus on exaggerating merely the human genius aspects of Prophet Muhammed ï·º, and go on to show that his sacred life is empty of the supernatural & miraculous characteristics. In order to prove this, they state the Quranic verse: “Say: Signs are but with Allah alone.” (Surah An’aam, verse 109). Hence, even a Muslim gets brainwashed and starts believing that the prophetic life contained no miracles & signs with which Allah usually upholds His prophets.

If we carefully consider the source of this theory concerning the Messenger of Allah ï·º, we find that this idea erupted originally from the  western philosophers & orientalists like Gustav Le Bon, Immanuel Kant, David Hume, Ignác Goldziher, and others. The basis of this theory is the lack of belief in the Creator of miracles – Allah - as they were all non-Muslims.

Unfortunately, this theory was grabbed by many Muslims who dedicated their efforts to promote this idea of foreign thinkers. They were inspired by the scientific renaissance of Europe, which blinded their eyes and paved the way to falling into the traps of the mostly European non-Muslim scholars & thinkers. Such Muslims include Shaykh Muhammed Abduh, Mohammad Fareed Wajdi, and Mohammed Hussein Haikal.

When those non-Muslim elements, who planted the seeds of doubt in the minds of Muslims, came to know that even the Muslims subscribed to their theory, they started their criticism on the Islamic doctrines and planted atheistic beliefs in people’s minds. While doing so, very interestingly, they focused on the prophetic heroism, genius, and leadership with the words of praise and admiration, but indirectly showed that the prophetic life was far from being miraculous & supernatural, while these two aspects are vital characteristics of any prophet of Allah.

Question these to yourself: What is the Quranic revelation? What is the knowledge of the unknown, given to the prophets? What is Eemaan? Answer: They’re all supernatural in nature. With a focus on the prophet’s human characteristics, the orientalists tried to show him a mere human achiever. If the Muslims vouch for this theory, the second part of their Shahadah “Muhammadur Rasoolullah (ï·º)” becomes doubtful. And this in itself means denying Islam.
